We all want to present ourselves in the best possible light, and there always comes that moment when filling out a dating profile where you sorta, kinda, wanna fudge the truth a little bit. “Well, I mean to work out three times a week, and I intend to some time soon, so I’ll say I do and that I’m ‘athletic.’” But here’s the thing about online dating - that we all know, but refuse to think about in that moment, the moment when we idealize ourselves - the whole point is to meet someone else in person, hopefully, and if the lie is too big, it’s going to be noticed. Trust me.

As a lady (as I choose to see myself), I have to say, the lie I ran into the most with men was regarding their height. I’m 5′8″, don’t you think I’m going to notice that while you said you were 6″, you’re only an inch taller than I am in flats? And trust me, I always wore flats on first dates, for exactly that reason. The point is not that I like tall men, (which I do) but that it was pretty obvious right off the bat that the guy wasn’t being honest, and that’s a bigger problem. Look, if a girl won’t date you because of your height, she’s not the right girl for you.

Tomorrow… how the ladies lie.
