Highlighted artists include Gabriel Rivera, whose paintings are modern versions of ancient cave paintings and markings, and Michael Pukac, whose work has been said to be reminiscent of the old masters such as Rubens, Titian, and Rembrandt. 

Free-flowing, live painters Carlos Vera, Hans Haveron, and Michael Pukac will give folks a behind-the-scenes peak at their creative process. 

The Audio Lab portion of the evening boasts an impressive line-up of the city’s very best DJs and musicians such as: DJ legend Steve Loria, Irwin’s Conspiracy, and Square-1. Each event’s aural artists are poised to create a soundtrack for the night that transforms this from a simple ‘art show’ into the city’s most anticipated Art Event.

Tonight, Afro Funké more than lives up to its name as Ghanaian superstar Rocky Dawuni assembles his eleven piece band, Revelation Project, at Zanzibar. On Friday, hold on to your panties, ’cause living legend Tom Jones comes to LA for a one-night stand, bringing with him crooner classics like “It’s Not Unusual” and “What’s New Pussycat?” On Saturday, start your weekend off with a hike in the LA hills. The wildflowers are out in full bloom and the Theodore Payne Wildflower Hotline will tell you where to catch the most stunning collections. Poppies, poppies! On Saturday night, sit back and enjoy Sharon McNight’s critically acclaimed throwback to the party records of the 1950s called, “Songs to Offend Almost Everyone,” or make your way downtown for Create:Fixate’s first 2009 art happening, which features the best of LA’s art scene with over 40 artists. The evening includes visual art, music, live painting, chocolate hip hop sculpture and more! And finally on Sunday night, Curumin unleashes a fusion of samba, funk, soul, rap, jazz and bossa nova at Spaceland. Don’t forget to stop and smell the wildflowers!
