One of the best SW/Mexican meals I've had in a long time. I've been to the Two Hot Tamales' Ciudad a few years ago downtown, but never been to their original hot spot, Border Grill and like a lot of you, I used the Whole Foods $20 off of $50 deal. Which was good because this is definitely not for the bargain crowd but it isn't supposed to be. Had the Chile Ribs which were some of the most tender ribs I've ever had in LA. It's certainly not as tender as some of the ribs I've had down South but this is LA, so take what you can. Chips were excellent and they constantly brought refills. Salsas were also excellent and not chunky at all. If you like that type you won't like BG. These salsas could certainly double as BBQ sauces in their own right. Sampled my friends' carnitas and they were great as well but if you're going to do pork and it's on the menu as a special (it's not a regular item) go for the ribs. Only thing I'd complain about is that for almost 30 bucks you should get a full rack but it's Border Grill so you're paying Wolfgang or Emeril prices here for the most part.

Only thing disappointing was the Margaritas. I tried a Pomegranate one and it didn't have salt on the rim and didn't really give me any of that Tequila buzz you'd expect. Considering it was $12.95 (ouch!) it should've. My friend had a Mojito and he enjoyed it but I'm not a Mojito guy. You got to have a Margarita at a place like this. Beer selection was pretty much Sierra Nevada and three mexibrews.

I know a lot of people here bitched on the service, but ours was excellent to be sure. Probably the only complaint was waiting a little too long for us to place our order. I think one of the reasons things went well was we went around 5:30 and it wasn't crowded yet. By the time we left it was packed.

I'd definitely go back here especially for special occasions. Not sure if it's really a date spot based on it's meet market reputation.

We have gone there many times... maybe even burned out on it for now. BUT - it's always a hit with out of town guests and when you want a good Margarita! My personal fav is the Turkey Tostada but I know the rest of the free world goes with the Veracruzano fish. Have one for me when you go.

Border Grill's Happy Hour is definitely my happy time. The tapas menu is amazing (plantain empanadas, yucca fries, green corn tamales and more) and the mojitos are all you need to quench your thirst on a hot summer day. The entre menu is great as (especially coming from a veggie perspective, lot's to eat and, moreover, enjoy here!). Portions are generous and the ingredients are fresh and delicious. No complaints. Rated: Solid (like in a 70's jive talk kind of way).

We go to the Border Grill all the time. Often times we just get by on their "small bites" menu. They have such a great selection of tapas that you can get by on that if you want. My favorite is the Chicken Panuchos. Truly fantastic. And their Margaritas are very good, though expensive as hell. The noise factor in the dining room is a bit of a drag (but helps when you bring kids). But the happy hour in the bar or at the community table makes it an easy choice for a pre-movie meal.

A cool spot with adventurous Mexican cuisine and solid drinks. Has been on my list for a long time and when I have to put together a big group dinner, its my go-to. Eat, drink and enjoy!
